Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Vass
Hi Ben, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Ben Vass, i started as a salesperson in a small cosmetics company but i was actually a Network security engineer prior to that. The pay as a network security engineer was quite satisfying but the stress and the overtime just wouldn’t make sense to me anymore. I was doing 4 intensive years in the IDF prior to that. I have a beautiful 4 legs daughter named Daisy and she is my PTSD Service dog that i take everywhere. Yes she comes to the spa as well and greet the clients (if she sense they want her to) she’s very smart she’s a Pomeranian/husky mix and she’s very special to all of our team.so not all bad came out from being in the military.
While i was working in the cosmetics store i was wondering why we can’t provide a real treatment for clients that actually works and without risks. I then researched and had my first thoughts of combining innovation and beauty.
My first 2 Spas i opened with a business partner were located up in Carmel and in Balboa Island Newport Beach, COVID hit us hard but it made me realize that i can go on my own. Between 2019-2022 I’ve been working different jobs since i had to shut down the Spa for more than a year, even after that people were still afraid to come in and get treatments, so I’ve been working as a locksmith, trying to sell construction to clients and even tried to sell windows. It’s been rough but i finally saved a bit to open a kiosk in Santa Anita mall in Arcadia .The first Ben’s Beauty establishment. I then moved from Irvine to Monrovia I opened the kiosk around Oct 2022 and was very happy. First time in my life i was working for myself without having to deal with someone who doesn’t know what he’s doing. I met the local cliental and they embraced me like i was one of their own. It wasn’t easy and it was hard to offer samples to clients during covid. People were afraid to be touched during my demonstrations and even more afraid to be approached since the bad reputation in people offering samples in malls. So it was tough but once they realized i actually offering something they have never seen before, they were more interested.
In order to keep my cliental happy, i was offering them a free complimentary treatment once my spa will be ready. I was manifesting opening up a spa. I then met an amazing energetic lady that was interested in my products, i shared with her my idea of opening a spa in the area, she then bought a small package from me and told me that we should keep in touch.
I met her in April, by June she contacted me again and told me that she has an amazing location for me in Pasadena. During that time the kiosk was a great success so i saved over $70k and took the Spa. Most of the people who works in the Spa currently are people i met in the kiosk and trained them. One of them is my amazing manager Christina who was working next to me. (She babysit my dog during my vacation to israel in March when i had no one else to watch Daisy, i was grateful for her and still am to this day). When i offered Christina to come work with me she couldn’t help it by bursting out laughing and i was pretty serious. I told her come and feel the environment once a week and so after long convincing she came in. I honestly couldn’t believe it since she had 25 years of experience working for a corporate job. Most of us know how frustrating it is to work for a big corporation since they treat badly their employees. Since then we had a grand opening at August 2023 and we were ready to expand 4 months after. I was waiting for the right time and more rooms to be available on my floor and finally on June first we took 6 more rooms, totall of 8 rooms ready to service beautiful clients. we offer non surgical treatments including L.E.D EMS RF, Hydra glow facials, microdimibration , face and body treatments. I am more than excited.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggles were mainly COVID, dealing with clients that weren’t interested in being close to me. People that never heard of Ben’s Beauty before. Handing samples at the kiosk for everyone while still being polite and respectful. Trying to find employees were no matter the pay, no one wanted to work at the kiosk and if they did, no one survived more than a week. I did it all by myself while driving two hours commute back and forth from Irvine to Arcadia. Trying to convince customers why my products are the best and why they should invest during inflation and COVID time
As you know, we’re big fans of Ben’s Beauty . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are offering non surgical treatment giving a loving personal care and experience for ours clients.
We are offering treatments and experience that no other company is offering such as non surgical treatments, no side effects, no downtime and combining beauty with innovative machines and even home devices that saves the clients plenty of money instead of bonding them into a monthly contracts of repeating treatments such as botox/juviderm etc. my most proud brand is “my face” handheld device. Since we are still growing and manifesting opening more branches all over the states (not a franchise) all owned by me since i really love what i do and i believe customers should be treated with absolute care. The meaning of franchise is lower costs, less personal experience and more expensive and this is a concept I’m not a fan of. We are competing with plastic surgeons , invasive treatments and injections such as Botox/juviderm. We offer discounted prices on packages where we are to treat and support the customer even if she is a non consistent person. We first analyzing the customer face with a special AI Face Analyser device and based on that We offer a variety of packages which includes home devices to buy, including free consultations, free facials, free follows ups , free skin care while investing in one of our home devices which we also use at the spa since they’re very good while providing results in real time.

Old Town Pasadena is full of historic charm, has an amazing community feel, and it is easy to walk anywhere you want to go. There are so many events and activities in the area that you can always find something that matches your interests. With our spa being located in the heart of it all, it has been great to try new dining and shopping areas and also let our customers know the best spots to visit. However, one downside is that the town’s popularity can make it challenging to find parking, which we do have a solution to. If a customer is struggling to pay for parking, we are offering to cover it. We are trying to be fair and don’t want customers to give up the experience over $10 parking.
